Back to Normal

Last post asked the question "Where do we go from here? Last weeks comment was: Big Question, no answer here.   Well it is time to start answering that question.  What will normal be like in 3-6 months? For me it is a pretty normal Sunday.  It is a relatively normal weekend after a normal week.  There has been a fair bit of news space devoted to "normal".  Mostly news articles speculating on when covid will end and we as a nation will begin to live normally.  Those articles have been more prevalent since the release of the covid vaccine.  This is all started me thinking about normalcy and what it actually means.  During this time of isolation and quarantine we have all had time to contemplate our normal lives.  Many of us have have wondered if the old normal will ever return and if it does will we accept it. One example is masks.  Will we continue to wear them.  I was fortunate to visit Japan in 2008 you did not have to wait very lo...

Trial Period is over

I saw the following on January 7th on Facebook: I am returning 2021 I had my 7 day trial and I am not impressed.   Well it went something like that.  It was a tumultuous start to 2021.  The events on January 6th even pushed covid numbers off the front page.  I, like most watched with unbelieving eyes as events unfolded.  I was doubly horrified as reports surfaced later in the day of the actual events.  Like most, wondering how it all came to this.  I am not a fan of the current President but I have a hard time believing that one man is responsible for all that we saw.  I even don't believe a single faction of a political party could foster such insurrection.   Still I sit and wonder how it all came about. The great verbal waste land we call Facebook was and still is full of opinions.  Almost all blaming one side or the other.  I don't think I saw a single post that did not fully support a particular side of the political s...

New Year New ____?

What do most of us see and hear this time of year?  New Year New You of course.  New Year New You, buy a car.  New Year New You, get healthier.  New Year New You lose weight (usually number one).  As I sit here with my coffee and oatmeal cookies I find myself on this New Years day 2021 looking back on 2020.  I guess I like to torture myself.  Most would agree it has been a different year.  Covid has definitely changed things.  Now that a vaccine is becoming available it will be interesting to to see what we leave behind and what we return to.  Will mask wearing become more common?  Will restaurants fill to capacity or will they enhance the dining experience by retaining a little of the elbow room we are starting to get accustomed to?  I know I would appreciate it if they didn't open all the seating back up.  One thing that has yet to change is that spell check still marks "Covid" as a misspelled word.  I wonder if it ...
