Not much has changed
Gee November is almost half over and It seems like nothing has changed. Or at least nothing seems to have changed for the better. Daily there are more covid cases, more hospitalizations and yes more deaths. Death rates do seem to be less. Treatments and therapies are improving.
Watching the news and the reported 100,000 new cases nation wide and over 1000 new cases in Dallas county I started to wonder where are all these people getting the virus. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. Big and small gatherings where are these people getting it from? Are they getting it from a work place? It is difficult to get a grasp on the numbers but about 50% of the workforce is remote now. The group I work with is 100% remote. In my small circle of friends only a very few have had the virus and thankfully no deaths. Lately it has been college age sons and daughters of our friends that have reported infections. The infection seems so wide spread now that contact tracing is all but forgotten.
I am one of the more careful people I know but I think it would be difficult to trace my steps over a given period. Lets see: Saturday was 4 days ago. Did I go to home depot? I did order dinner and pick it up. I did a bunch of work around the house. Did I go to the store? I am pretty sure I went in the past 4 - 5 days. I could probably check the receipts in my wallet and get a better idea of where is was.
Sunday is a little easier, more routine. Online Sunday school, then online church. Then we pick up lunch and meet friends at the church court yard. We sit outdoors at separate tables (about 10-12 feet apart). Then back home for more chores around the house, watch football, fold laundry.
I would have to say it would difficult for me to trace my steps for any one day.
Wish I knew what to do. It is getting a bit nuts out there. However, there has been some progress with vaccines. Pfizer reported a 90% effectiveness rate with their vaccine. Apparently 90% is considered very high rate of effectiveness for a vaccine. It will be interesting to see how it is deployed not just to the US but to the entire world
